Why I Ever Loved You

I look at you and I wonder
Why I ever loved you.
You went out of my life the same way you entered.
Sudden and without warning.
In a way you took part of my life away.
I look back at the time I seemed to have wasted on you.
And wonder why I loved you.
But I also want to thank you.
Thank you for taking that time away with you.
Thank you for taking part of my life away with you.
Because you left me with the most precious thing in my life.
A life for a life, or part of one.
Part of me.
I don’t think I’ll ever know
Why I ever loved you.
And in a way I’m glad you’re gone.
But I’m glad you were here,
Because you gave her to me.

Life

The baby crawls across the floor
His mother proud to see.
But if he should work a little more
Then walking he shall be.

The young man walking up the aisle
Beside his lovely bride.
He looks at her and has to smile
At this woman by his side.

In middle-age his life is well,
The kids are growing fast.
Sometimes his life is living hell
And he longs for the past.

As in old age, her mind has strayed
The kids are now full grown.
The angels come, she flies away
And now he's left alone.

And now it's time, the end is near,
The doctor's at the door.
The dark is gone, the light is clear
He'll be alone no more.

Jump Start

Okay, seeing as it's been over a year since I've been here, I guess I ought to just start over. I STILL hope to make this a place to log some of my writing and hopefully I'll actually do that once in a while. Here's hoping anyway. I was actually thinking of starting a series of small stories that circled around one character and posting them on here. I don't know about that yet though. We'll see if I actually get started here first. So, if anyone is reading, check back every now and then. There may be something interesting here! Until then...May your hearth be warm.

Well. As I've really not spread this place around much, I'm probably writing to myself at the moment. Hopefully I will make this a place where I can log my writing and get some stuff read. I hope to start putting things up here soon. So until then, good luck to anyone reading. May your hearth be warm.
